Public asset owners, including sovereign wealth funds, public pension funds and central banks, hold a collective US$40 trillion in investable assets. Their scale gives them the power to move and shape markets locally, regionally and globally.

But today, the public asset owner landscape is in a state of flux – roles, objectives, investment strategies and operating models are all changing.

To better understand their path forward, we interviewed and surveyed over 90 senior leaders from almost 50 institutions globally, representing nearly US$9 trillion in assets. This extensive study shares what we found and what it means for the future.
